  June 15th WT ( again) JW's told " Elders are Imperfect " Give them a Break

  this is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.

  the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".

  in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.

  Many would agree that the Elder arrangement needs a good overhaul.

  Do Elders do any good for the individuals in the congregation?..........Yes.

  Do Elders do any harm to individuals in the congregation?.........Yes.

  Many would agree that Elders past & present have done more harm than good. The harm out ways the good sad to say. The WTBTS' non-Biblical disfellowshipping policy that the Elders enforce at the congregational level is evidence alone of the harm caused to untold tens of thousands of individuals and their familys' over the years. Many of these disfellowshippings have been over otherwise petty offenses.

  The non-Biblical practice of shunning after a disfellowshipping is more pain that is inflicted upon an individual, family and friends for months and years to come.

  How the WTBTS can come out with a study article entitled: 'Have Regard for Those Who Are Working Hard Among You' is really hard to understand!

  I got a kick out of this one in par 10: 'One youth strayed from “the tracks of righteousness.” He became addicted to pornography and started smoking marijuana.'

  I'm wondering ....'What is the connection between pornography and marijuana?' You'd think this youth (who we shall name 'Roberto') after watching pornography would have logically developed a problem with say.....masterbation, not marijuana.

  Another sign that the WTBTS writing department personnel are lacking creativity in their writing. They sound soo 'Watchtarded'.

  If People Told you the JW's Would Change These Beliefs & Practices.....

  would you have believed it ?

  ( i give credit to the poster password protected for giving me the idea of this thread ) .. after exiting the witnesses in 2003 i have noticed many changes within the wt society which really surprised me but after analyzing the changes - they really have convinced me the wt society and jehovah's witnesses are a mind control cult intent on ruling people's lives.

  Another recent change that took place just this past week and covered @ the Service Meeting which surprised many was the part entitled: 'How long should we study with a progressive Bible student?'

  Prior to the 70's it was 'what's the rush' mentality when studying with new ones. Then in the early 70's the 'six-month' Bible study crash course program was introduced that seemed to peter out.

  Now (according to the April 2011 KM Pg 2) we are back to 'let them take their sweet time' when studying with new ones.

  Should we also blame 'Holy Spirit' for mis-directing the organization with this one?

  Watchtower's Judicial System makes me mad!

  Over the years I've seen the WT/Elder Judicial System wreak havoc on many an individual's life, especially the young. That probably is the main reason why many 'older' men who do indeed qualify to serve as Elders opt not to.

  i don't know if it was just the memorial i went to or if this was across the board, but it seems that the talk was dumbed down a bit more than it had been in the past.

  not that it wouldn't surprise me if was dumbed down.

  'And don't you love how someone has to pass the emblems in front of the guys who just walked all around the all carrying them? I mean, if they wanted to, they could have taken a nibble or sip any time they wanted. Why all the ritual?'

  I've always thought this part of the passing of the emblems as a circus act. Its' almost too embarrassing to watch. Talk about 'showy display!'

  Were You Ever Treated "Differently" Because One of Your Family Members Was Disfellowshipped?

  "by their love"...... shunning in the "borg" many times has effected not just the person that was dfed but other family members too.. my father was dfed in 1962 for "rebeliousness against the organization" he wanted to go to a different kh than we were assigned to.

  needless to say that decision was later reversed.. that was strange, but how the witnesses treated my mother, sister and myself....was even stranger.

  it was as if.... we now had some kind of leprosy.

  Hello Everyone! Heres my story!

  i'm new here, and although i have been a lurker for several months now, its nice to finally dive in and join you all.

  i hope that i find some friends as thats what i'm really looking for, i've seen enough proof that theres real love outside of this religious prison that i've biult for myself over the years, but i would like to feel it firsthand.

  it's been a little hard to post anything since it's not easy being around in websites like these when you're still in and theres other jw's around sticking their noses everywhere, but now that i've found the time, i would like to share a bit about my story.... this is an email i sent paul grundy, (creator of jwfacts.com) and it basically sums up the story of my life... so i thought it would be good if you all had a read as well.

  My advice to you first off is that you have time on your side. Take time to think things through.

  Do not forget that you, at your age, are not alone. . Remember that the retention rate of youth who remain JWs is around 33%. That means that a whopping 67% of youth in the organization possibly have very similar feelings as you. So you are not the 'lone man on the totem pole.'
